F O C U S Mens Group

Several attempts have been made, over the years, to form a men’s group at First Baptist. Good intentions were behind each attempt, but fizzled like a dud fire cracker on the 4th of July. The spark has always been with us. We just needed someone to help us find the fuse to re-light. Rev. Betty Wright-Riggins and Rev. Aidsand Wright-Riggins knew where the fuse was. Through their encouragement, we were able to find the fuse and re-light it. This time, it exploded and F.O.C.U.S came to be. It is the acronym for the Fellowship of Christian UnderStanding, the “Men’s Group” of First Baptist.

Contrary to the thoughts some may have when a group of men get together, they don’t always discuss sports, cars, women or their latest accomplishment in life. As our name implies, we discuss matters of interest to us as Christian men. Our goal is to increase our awareness in our relationship with God, our families, our work and our community.

F.O.C.U.S is open to all men in our community or any community, for that matter.

Respectfully Submitted, Jim Johnson and Joe Hegedus
